what we do

At Iknoor Foundation we believe there is one thing that seperates the world children into haves and have nots and that is education or the lack of it. To improve lives, education has to reach to the lowest economic level. Our focus is to provide marginalized children of the society the opportunity to learn and develop, so that they can grow and be an integral part of their communities. Our mission is to reach to the lowest strata of society, reach out to their children and give them the gift of education, and help transform their lives forever.

Elementary Education
Our core focus ares is education for primary school children. We encourage and facilitate enrolment of such children in schools, and also provide out of school basic education to poor children.

School Dropout Rehabilitation
We counsel & facilitate school dropouts who have either left school becaue of financial problems or have simply lost interest in education to rejoin school again or put them in vocational schools.

Vocational Education
We impart vocational training to prepare adolscent children for a certain trade or craft. Our programs prepare students to be ready for specific careers by emphasizing on skill development  for particular jobs and functions.

Iknoor Foundation is an NGO based in Chandigarh, India which is committed to providing basic education and education support to underprivileged children. Iknoor Foundation, an NGO for poor child education believes that whether you are addressing healthcare, poverty, population control, unemployment or human rights, there's no better place to start than in the corridors of education.

Education is both the means as well as the end to a better life; means, because it empowers an individual to earn his/her livelihood and the end because it increases one's awareness on a range of issues – from healthcare to appropriate social behavior to understanding one's rights, and in the process evolve as a better citizen.

Iknoor Foundation's educational initiatives include Pre-school [upto 6 yrs], Non Formal Education [6-14 yrs non-school going], and Drop-outs [14-16 yrs].

We work for education for underprivileged children who are under difficult circumstances, such as child labour, children of poorest of the parents, children inflicted and affected with poverty related disease, street and runaway children and slum children. Special emphasis is given on girl education and women education, so that they and their families get empowered.
